Thanks for your good wishes, John.

I was doing some reading about Papua before I came on this trip and I came across Poisoned Arrows by George Monbiot, which was all about his investigation into the transmigration programme run in Papua by the Indonesian government. Even though the book is 20 years old (and Papua was Irian Jaya then), the Papuans I've talked to have said that it's still a big issue today and human rights are clearly being infringed.

It was a real eye-opener because, as you say, what happens here doesn't get reported much in the rest of the world.

You are the greatest guardians of this endless paradise. I will inform all my political net work in Tanah Papua to support the work of Greenpeace to make sure that we flush out and stop forever the plundering of our paradise forest.

West Papua is the Papcifics most ignored political and human rights issue. Conglomerates, Multi-national Corporations and Developments "spying agents" of the "old world" have displayed their hypocrisy in broad daylight everyday as they plaunder the gold, oil, gas, forest and marine resources of Papua.

May God bless and protect you all as Esparanza sails through the mysterious and prosperous land of Papua.

I am watching over all that happens and will not slepp until West Papua id Free and Independent.

Tetap Merdeka, Tetap Tanah Papua
Tanah Papua, Tanah Lahirku.
